EVENT: SUNDAY JOYRIDE – THE RIDES OF THE SEAHORSE CITY

Hello again! Without wasting much time, we shall continue with this road-scrapping KE20. As the cabin is limited for two persons only, I shall suggest James to remove rear seat for the sake of lightweight.

The younger brother in Corolla brotherhood, a tofu delivery AE80 with killer fitment on 7J wheels and 175/70/R13 rubbers.

Forget about the JDMs for a while, I sincerely cannot resist liking this mint W115. Paul Bracq (the designer) must be proud to see this if he is still alive. What a peace of mind and relaxed feeling to drive one.

Looking for a family-version Celica? This TA40 is a right choice for a T-series conversion.

How about a two-doors Civic SB1 on Black Racing wheels? It isn’t VTEC nor ZC but it is cooler than the siblings.

A long-hibernating TA22 came out to put on the fire.

Much more fire with Watanabe 15-inches, seems a right choice when you are in attempt of filling an AE70’s wheel arch.

Expecting an ordinary hardtop? Nope, this KE35 is an SR model, running with new heart for a reliable daily usage.

This mouth-watering lime green B210 was totally outstanding among the crowd, especially when you have Riverside Star to sit on.

2T-G, LB, deep-wide AP Racing, Top Secret aero kit, what else you are looking for?

KE25 running on Hayashi Street and SSR Supershark.

It is cute little thing, thanks Suzuki for producing this adorable Alto 800.

Sleeper-look on the exterior except the crazy-offset AP Racing, but I bet the engine bay is going to amaze you.

Simple and neat, just love the way Hisham did on this Charmant.

Perfect condition and stock parts intact on this KP30, where else could you find one?

With a set of wide wheels and few inches lower, you already have a handsome looking Celica.

A 5-star hotel experience’s drive to Peliau with this Kujira. We shall check-in now.

And a 40-minutes drive seems like 10 with this Celica RA60. The candy red effect make it seems like cruising even in static mode.

Trust me, you cannot go wrong with Equip 01 on KE25.

Out of the crowd, we have got this badass Hilux N40.

This A75 was just discharged from operation ward; the doc had to implant a snail to make it breath healthily. Hope it get well soon.

The senyumsuka has a new responsibility to transport the owner’s mistress. Congratulations.

Everything single thing is just awesome on this TA28. Thanks Mr. President for the motivation of restoration.

Last but not least, our great guy behind of these awesome photos. After a long sleep, this coupe is now ready to rumble. Many thanks for transporting the gears to snap these professional photos.

That’s all for now, bye.

Fire up the... Suzuki Kizashi (UK version)

PART of the problem with new cars these days is that what you see isn't usually what you get. Unless you pay for it as an optional extra, that is.

It's one of the car industry's worst kept secrets that paying for life's little luxuries can add hundreds - sometimes even thousands - of pounds to the price of your pride and joy, but Suzuki is offering an intriguing alternative for anyone infuriated by the confusing, expensive and downright mind-boggling world of the options list.

Put simply, the Kizashi doesn't have one. There's no messing about with gadgets and gizmos on this one - it's £21,995, take it or leave it.

Nor, by the way, is this an accidental reprint of a roadtest that's already appeared in these pages. Life On Cars did get to drive the Kizashi earlier this year, but that was very much a test model to see whether us fussy Brit buyers would go for the idea of a Suzuki saloon, whereas this one is the finished product, subtly retrimmed and re-engineered with the UK's motorists in mind.

That original test version got the thumbs up because it offered buyers things they couldn't get elsewhere and it's much the same story here, with a package that offers saloon virtues without the sheer size of say, a Mondeo or an Insignia. More importantly, while Suzuki's thumbed through the options list on your behalf they've been quite generous with it - the Kizashi's got full leather trim, plenty of toys up front to keep you entertained when you're not pressing on, and a 178bhp, four cylinder petrnl engine when you are.

Yet I'd raise the biggest eyebrow of all at the transmission, because unlike just about any other saloon of its size you can press a button and a four wheel drive system comes to life, which should come in handy if you live off your local council's gritting routes. It's mated to a CVT automatic gearbox, and while you can change gear manually using paddles on the steering column, Schumacher-style, the car's character suits leaving it in auto and letting the technology do the hard bit.

The Kizashi then, is the perfect car for people who don't really like cars very much. If you're looking for a no-nonsense package which will get you where you need to be, in all weathers, take a look at one of the 500 Suzuki's planning on shipping over.

SPOTTED: SWAN CITY HUNTING PART 1

I do love hunting oldskool cars whenever I reach new places, since they are packed with some nice cars that may not be found at my hometown. The first car that caught my eyes from last vacation; this Celica coupe on Magnum wheels, next to a workshop.

Sitting around the corner from the Celica was this poor Jimny. The chassis was actually in a good shape, only few parts missing.

Spotted few bumpers and parts on top and surroundings of the Jimny, apparently no parts that caught my attention since they were for modern cars.

As I walked around, there was a Pajero undergoing extensive facelift conversion. Not a big fan of this kind of modification, but I can imagine if the effort was spent on original restoration, fully slammed ride height and installing chrome parts.

Mini anyone? This particular model is pretty rare in Borneo, I have only ever seen a handful of these. If only someone could save this chassis and put it back rolling on the road.

Sadly, another one. But this time with most of the parts attached. If you noticed, there was a nice yellow Suzuki Jimny behind there, undergoing some repair process, and a modern T230 Celica.

Oldskool Prelude fans would not happy to see this. Famously known as second generation Prelude and it was pretty popular for the pop-up headlights design.

I go weak at the knees when I spotted this stock to the bone Starlet KP61. The frames are still in good shape and the lines are straight. It was nice since to see the owner maintains fender side mirror. Sorry for the crappy image as my camera fails at night shot.

See you guys in Part 2. Chow!
